Never able to access chat...

I joined about 2 weeks ago, this is my first post
My chat has not worked yet, it always says "you have not permissions......."

Anyone know why this might be?

For some reason, there were a few members who's names didn't appear in the list that we use to approve people for chat. We haven't been able to figure out why, or figure out a solution. I'm afraid at this point the only work-around is to re-join with a second username that you use for chatting. Sorry.

MissTease, your name was the very next one on the list, so you must have joined this site right after I approved the last batch of new members for chat. In any case, you should be ready to chat now.

On further investigation, the problem with the odd person not being approved for chat has to do with the length of time between a person registering for an account here, and then clicking on the validation link that's sent to the email address they have when they signed up.

The list of new users that I access to approve people for chat is listed in the order that the members first joined OD.com. The list omits anyone who hasn't clicked the validation link. When the new user clicks the validation link, instead of their name being added to the "top" of the approve-to-chat list, they are added chronologically based on their initial join date.

If a number of members joined (and validated their account) before a particular new member validates their own membership, their account will be too far down on the list for me to see when I go in to approve people for chat. With only 25 members listed per page, it's not too hard to end up being put on the list far enough back that I'd never see them.

There is also no way to search the list by username or to query for all the un-approved members. The only way to find username's that haven't been approved is to page through the list, 25 names at a time, and look for the boxes without a checkmark.

Your chat is a bit of a mystery. I found it in the records, and it had already been approved for chatting. I logged into the site with your username and was unable to access the chatroom, same as you. Very strange.

My suggestion is that you create a new account such as TeasingCatChat or TeasingCat2, at which point I can either delete your old one or you can use both.

My apologies that I'm not able to provide a better fix.

I have yet to receive an email with a validation link and so of course cannot access chat, but I just joined a few hours ago. I guess if the email is auto-generated I should certainly have it by now and need to work on figuring out what went wrong, but if the email is sent out by admins, then i guess i just need to wait a day or two. Please advise.

As Indecisive says, the simplest solution is to create a new account with a nick very similar to your original, like I did - and if you can't be bothered creating a new profile (also like me!) just add yourself, as in your old nick, as a friend and instruct anyone interested to click there. I'm still posting & blogging as DuchessCaramel and mainly use DuchessCaramel_ll for chat & quick posts like this one. It's an option,and no-one seems to mind; I've noticed most visitors to my new page quickly relocate to the original with no complaint.

hiya Indy. i tried entering the new chat today, but all that happens is i get a new screen with a dialog box in the center that says "connecting..." with 6 blue dots above that cont. incrementing & then decrementing. i am using firefox and i have my ABP disabled.

Seems like the "no admittance" virus is spreading! I was able to get into the new chat for the first day but have not been able to for the last three days. Help! Unless this is a new form of teasing in which case I still am yelling...Help!...but for different reasons :)

There isn't anything you can do on your end, and it won't matter whether you use IE or Firefox (as long as you have a Flash plug-in installed). The problem is an incompatibility between the new chat software and the operating system running on the server this site runs off of. I hope to move the site to a new server in a couple of weeks, so hopefully the hassles won't last much longer.

Tonight in chat (normal chat, not new chat), no one was able to see my messages, but I was (presumably) able to see everyone else's. I tried exiting and reentering the chat multiple times, and I also tried clearing the cache. All to no avail.

i didn't get a mail with validation link when i joined...just to make sure i made another profile slutboi_chat today with another email id and i didn't get a mail for that one either.
so now i have 2 profiles and sill cant enter chat....please help
