Is there a hole in the message system here, or am I missing something obvious?
I chatted with a newcomer briefly in the chat room, and then tried to send a thank-you message later. However, the lady in question has set her profile to "private" - which means I have to be her friend already to even reach the point where I can send a message.
This appears to be a classic Catch-22. I apparently have to request to be her friend so I can then send her a welcome message. But claiming or requesting friendship seems presumptuous, since I don't know her well at all yet. Is this a deliberate part of the website design, an overlooked flaw in the system, or something I have overlooked?
